2025 July HOA Newsletter

July 1, 2025
Happy Summer Everyone!
We have a lot to share with all of you, so please read this letter in its entirety in order that you don’t miss out on important information.
Upcoming Events:
1. The HOA’s second annual combined “Shambles” Golf Tournament with dinner to follow is scheduled for July 20th. Please form your own foursome and pre-register at the Pro Shop by July 10th. Singles and pairs also need to pre-register by July 10th and will be paired with other Golfers the day of the Tournament. Cost is $60 per Golfer and includes dinner. For Members of the Deer Park Golf Club or Punch Card holders, the cost is only $25. There will be two flights - Mens and Ladies Mixed - with “ PRIZES” for the top teams in each flight, two closest to the pins on two par three holes as well as last place prizes in each flight. Additionally, there will be very nice participation prizes just for playing.
Dinner will be at 6:00 pm and includes Barbeque Brisket Sandwiches, Corn on the Cob, Salad, a Soft Drink and Desert. Cost for “dinner only” is $25 per Diner. We ask that you also pre-register for dinner at the Clubhouse by July 10th so we know how much food to order. Both golf and dinner can be paid for the day of the event.
2. August 1-3 is the Annual Garage Sale weekend city wide for Deer Park. This brings in a lot of people and a great way to meet neighbors, find new treasures and get rid of some of the old ones that have lost their luster. Due to the high volume of traffic during this event, please secure pets and kids to ensure safety for all. You can also register your garage sale by address on the City of Deer Park Website for those buyers that preplan their plan of attack.
3. On June 5th, we had our first Homeowners “Buy Your Own Dinner” get-together at Divots located at the DP Golf Course Clubhouse. 20 people attended and enjoyed getting to know their neighbors better, the good food and drinks and all-in-all had a lot of fun. We will continue to do these “Buy Your Own Dinner” events and will email Homeowners all of the dates and start times to promote greater attendance. The food at Divots was great and it was also a great way to get to know our neighbors and create new friendships.
4. With any luck, by the time this letter reaches you, the upgrade at Oasis Park will be complete. This includes new plants and river rock in the planter, surrounded by concrete curbing and a commercial grade Park Bench for a nice rest spot for our many walkers. We hope you enjoy and appreciate the upgrade.
5. We will not be having Dumpster Weekend this year. Unfortunately, last year some Home Owners did not abide by the guidance/rules of what could or could not be dumped and as a group over filled the dumpster, etc. This caused the HOA to be fined over $200 for violating the allowable items that could be dumped plus additional charges to clean up the area around the dumpster. That said, the Board is investigating having a “Shredding Day” during which a mobile shredding operator would park their shredder truck somewhere on the HOA grounds which would allow all of us to securely shred our important documents no longer needed. This would provide a nice service to our Homeowners. Watch for updates on this project through our Facebook page, Email Blast and Website Homepage.
We need every Homeowner’s help with the usual summer-time neighborhood issues. Every one of them would be easily resolved if folks just followed the HOA Rules and Regulations, as well as local City Ordinances. In no particular order, here are the top five issues that have been observed and reported to the BOARD:
1. Dog issues - unleashed pets, excessive barking, poop not being properly picked up and disposed of.
2. Speeding. Too many people driving well over the 25mph speed limit, especially on North Country Club Drive.
3. RV’s/Utility trailers/other "toys" parked too long on the streets or in driveways.
4. Waste/recycle bins not stowed properly (out of street view) when it's not "pick up" day.
5. Landscaping issues - mowing, irrigating, weeding, tree/bush maintenance (or
lack thereof).
We can assure you that the Board will continue to do our best to address issues that keep our neighborhood safe, quiet, aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable for everyone.
We hope to see many of you at the Golf Tournament & Dinner and future neighborhood Dinner-Get-Togethers.
Lastly, please join us for the 3rd quarter Board Meeting on July 15th at 6:00 pm in the DP City Council Chamber at the Courthouse.
Enjoy your summer!!
